Bīn Hú Mài Xué Mài Jué 瀕湖脈學脈訣

Pulse Songs from the Lakeside Pulse Studies by 李時珍 (Lǐ Shízhēn, Dōngbì 東璧, hào Bīnhú shānrén 瀕湖山人, 1518–1593, 明)

About the work

A satellite catalog-entry pointing to the mnemonic-verse portion of Lǐ Shízhēn’s Bīnhú mài xué — the tǐzhuàng shī 體狀詩, xiānglèi shī 相類詩, and zhǔbìng shī 主病詩 sets that accompany each of the twenty-seven pulse-types in the main work. The jicheng.tw corpus duplicates the title in catalog metadata but the corresponding body file KR3eb015_001.txt is an empty stub. All textual content is contained in KR3eb014 KR3eb014_000.txt; see that entry for the substantive description, dating, and bibliography.

Prefaces

No text in the jicheng.tw file. The work-cluster’s preface is the one preserved in KR3eb014, dated Míng Jiājìng jiǎzǐ shàngyuán rì = first-month full-moon day of 1564.

Abstract

This catalog entry exists in the jicheng.tw index as a structural pointer; the main text and the mài jué component are not separable in the original manuscript tradition. The reason for the doubled entry is the long-standing Chinese editorial convention of treating the pulse-verses as a teaching-extract suitable for independent recitation; some Qing prints separate them out as Bīnhú mài jué 瀕湖脈訣 (deliberately echoing the pseudo-Wáng-Shūhé title that Lǐ Shízhēn was at pains to displace). For all substantive content see KR3eb014.
