About the work
A two-juan Southern-Sòng Shānghán essay-collection by 許叔微 Xǔ Shūwēi (Xǔ Xuéshì 許學士), companion to his Shānghán bǎi zhèng gē (KR3ef061). The work is also bibliographically attested under the alternative title Yì Shānghán lùn 翼傷寒論 (Wing to the Shānghán lùn). It consists of clinical essays on a range of Shānghán doctrinal and therapeutic points — pulse-and-syndrome differentiation, pathogen-progression, and the limits of canonical prescription application — taking up topics that the strict zhèngfāng (syndrome-prescription) format of the canonical text leaves under-developed.
Abstract
Composition window 1133–1154 is bracketed by Xǔ’s Lèizhèng pǔjì běnshì fāng (KR3e0032, 1133) and his death. The work circulates with the Bǎi zhèng gē as a single set in the Yuán-edition reprintings under the binding title 《新編張仲景注解傷寒百證歌五卷·發微論二卷》 (preserved in the introductory matter of the received text). The bibliographic survey embedded in this introductory matter — itself a major early-modern Shānghán bibliographic source — names the principal Sòng–Yuán Shānghán commentary tradition (王叔和 Wáng Shūhé, 成無己 Chéng Wúyǐ, 李檉 Lǐ Chēng, …) and identifies the Fā wēi lùn as the Yì Shānghán lùn of 《書錄解題》.
The Yuán-edition was rare in the Qīng — Qián Zūnwáng 錢遵王’s Dúshū mǐnqiú jì is one of the few catalog entries — and the modern reprintings derive from the Yuán block in 錢’s collection (later in the hands of the Hǎiyú 海虞 collector who wrote the bibliographic introduction).
The work, while bibliographically less famous than the Bǎi zhèng gē, is the more discursive of the two and is the principal vehicle for Xǔ Shūwēi’s own doctrinal positions on the Shānghán tradition.

Other points of interest
The 1820s-era bibliographic preface (preserved in Kanripo source under the title “重雕元刻傷寒百證歌發微論敘”) is one of the most-cited early-modern records of Xǔ Shūwēi’s lost works (the Nǐ Shānghán gē, Zhìfǎ 81 piān, Sānshíliù tú, Yì Shānghán lùn, Biàn lèi) and the textual transmission of the surviving pair.
