Wú Yòukě wēnyì lùn gēkuò 吳又可溫疫論歌括
Versified Summary of Wú Yòukě’s “Treatise on Warm-Epidemic Disorders” by 王旭高 (Wáng Xùgāo, 1798–1862)
About the work
The mid-19th-century versified mnemonic of 吳有性 Wú Yǒuxìng’s foundational Wēnyì lùn (KR3eg004), composed by the Wúxī physician Wáng Xùgāo as part of his pedagogical gējué / gēkuò (rhymed-formula) project. The companion piece to Wáng’s Xuē shì shīrè lùn gējué 薛氏濕熱論歌訣 (KR3eg015): together the two gējué / gēkuò distill the canonical Qīng wēnbìng monographs into mnemonic form for student memorisation.
Abstract
Each proposition of Wú Yǒuxìng’s original text is rendered into four- or seven-character verse, with prose annotations as needed for clinical clarification. The pedagogical idiom is recognisably continuous with Wáng’s broader gējué output (the Yùnqì zhèngzhì gē jué 運氣證治歌訣 KR3ea019 and several Shānghán gējué).
Dating is approximate. Wáng’s posthumous collected edition Wáng Xùgāo yī shū liù zhǒng 王旭高醫書六種 (1862) is the principal extant witness. The gēkuò itself is generally dated to the 1840s–1850s during Wáng’s most productive years in Wúxī.
The work is doctrinally a faithful summary of Wú’s pestilential-qi doctrine and its móyuán / nine-transmission framework; its contribution is pedagogical rather than substantive. It served as part of the standard WúxīSūzhōu wēnbìng curriculum and was widely reprinted in late-Qīng cóngshū.
