About the work
A two-juǎn versified mnemonic redaction of the Fù Qīngzhǔ nǚkē KR3ei001 — the famous 1827 pseudepigraphic gynecology compendium attributed to Fù Shān 傅山 — re-cast into seven-character rhymed mnemonic verses (gēkuò 歌括, “rhymed summary”) for pedagogical memorisation. The verses preserve the source-work’s organisation (dàixià → xuèbēng → tiáojīng → zhǒngzǐ → rènshēn → xiǎochǎn → nánchǎn → chǎnhòu) and its core prescriptions (Wándài tāng 完帶湯, Yìhuáng tāng 易黃湯, Tiáogān tāng 調肝湯, Shùngān yìqì tāng 順肝益氣湯, Shēnghuà tāng 生化湯 cluster), reproducing the source’s clinical content in verse-mnemonic form.
Prefaces
The KR hxwd _000.txt carries a detailed prefatorial narrative recording the work’s transmission history. The prefacer (signing as 陽典 Yángdiǎn 陽典) recounts that Fù Shān refused 康熙 Kāngxī’s 1679 Bóxué hóngcí 博學鴻詞 special examination summons; his Nǚkē circulated by hand-copy in Shānxī (山右舊族藏其女科一書) and was first printed in Jiāqìng by a charitable publisher at Píngyángjùn 平陽郡; the Gēkuò mnemonic-verse redaction circulated subsequently in multiple imprints, with the present recension based on a manuscript supplied to the prefacer by 韓寶臣 Hán Bǎochén, cìshǐ 刺史 (Prefect), via the editor 祈爾誠 Qí Ěrchéng.
Abstract
The mnemonic-verse genre (gēkuò 歌括) was widely used in Qīng popular medical literature for pedagogic distillation: cf. the Yīzōng jīnjiàn·Fùkē xīnfǎ yàojué KR3ei007 and the analogous gēkuò redactions of the Shānghán lùn 傷寒論 and Pínhú màixué 瀕湖脈學. The Fù Qīngzhǔ nǚkē gēkuò is a 19th-century popular redaction of the 1827 Fù Qīngzhǔ nǚkē source-work, prepared by anonymous Qīng popular-medical editors. The work is best dated notBefore 1827 (= the source-text’s first imprint) and notAfter 1900. The wide circulation of the Fù Qīngzhǔ nǚkē in late-Qīng TCM practice was substantially driven by such versified pedagogic redactions.
