A Hundred Discriminations in Gynecology by 莊履嚴 (Zhuāng Lǚyán, Qīng)

About the work

A one-juǎn gynecology in the bǎibiàn 百辨 (one-hundred-discriminations) format by the Qīng physician 莊履嚴 Zhuāng Lǚyán. The work covers women’s medicine through a sequence of question-and-discrimination entries beginning with zázhèng 雜症 (miscellaneous diseases: women’s stroke, bànshēnbùsuì 半身不遂, headache, etc.) and proceeding through the canonical gynecological topics. Each entry combines a clinical-question framing with discriminating clinical analysis (xūshí hánrè differential), citation of major authorities (李杲 Lǐ Dōngyuán’s Bǔzhōng yìqì tāng, Sòng Xiǎoxùmìng tāng 小續命湯), and prescribed formula.

Prefaces

The KR hxwd recension preserves the body of the work but no separable author-preface is present in the _000.txt head.

Abstract

The catalog meta lists 莊履嚴 Zhuāng Lǚyán as author and 淸 (Qīng) as dynasty. The work belongs to the Qīng popular bǎibiàn / bǎiwèn didactic format. Internal evidence: the work prescribes Bǔzhōng yìqì tāng with Bèimǔ 貝母 and Huánglián 黃連 additions (a late-Míng / Qīng formulation) and uses the canonical late-Míng yǐqìzhìxuè 以氣治血 xuèqì duìzhì 血氣對治 discriminative method. The work belongs squarely to the Qīng popular practitioner-tradition; notBefore 1700 / notAfter 1800 is a defensible bracket.

The work is closely related to the Fùkē wèndá 婦科問答 KR3ei004 in didactic format and content, with which it shares the discrimination-by-question pedagogical method.
