Chúnyìlú jí (chuāngyáng) 純懿廬集(瘡瘍)
Anthology of the Hall of Pure Virtue (Sores and Ulcers) anonymous; a chapter / fascicle extracted from a larger Chúnyìlú 純懿廬 collection of unknown overall provenance.
About the work
A concise late-Qīng wàikē fascicle on common superficial skin sores, extracted from the larger anonymous Chúnyìlú (the Chúnyìlú being a private studio name; the larger collection’s authorship has not been recovered). Internal evidence — the text cites the imperial Yīzōng jīnjiàn KR3ek009 (1742) — fixes the composition as post-1742; the stylistic register is later-Qīng. Defensible composition bracket: 1742–1911. Listed in UNCERTAIN.md.
Abstract
There is no preface in the source file; the text opens directly with the zhèngwén 正文. No tíyào / preface located in source.
The work is a tightly organised theoretical-clinical fascicle on superficial skin sores classified under four headings — shī chuāng 濕瘡 (damp sores), shā chuāng 砂瘡 (gritty sores), nóngkē chuāng 膿窠瘡 (boil-nest sores), zuòbǎn chuāng 坐板瘡 (sitting-board sores, i.e. perineal dermatitis) — with aetiology in liver-spleen disequilibrium and fēngrè / shīrè 風熱 / 濕熱 invasion. The author proceeds in Nèijīng-style aphoristic wèndá 問答 pairs, each clinical sub-pattern followed by a tailored formula: jīngqiāng sǎn 荊羌散, bòhé kūcǎo tāng 薄荷枯草湯, cāngzhú dāngguī tāng 蒼朮當歸湯, cāngzhú yínhuā tāng 蒼朮銀花湯, shēngqí chuānxiōng tāng 生耆川芎湯, dúhuó shēngdì tāng 獨活生地湯, dǎncǎo shēngdì tāng 膽草生地湯, shúdì yínhuā tāng 熟地銀花湯, shúdì ròuguì tāng 熟地肉桂湯, rǔxiāng jièsuì tāng 乳香芥穗湯, yuánhuā rǔxiāng tāng 芫花乳香湯, kǔshēn dìyú tāng 苦參地榆湯, and others. The text cites the Yīzōng jīnjiàn on zuòbǎn chuāng = fēng gān 風疳.
The work is distinctive in its compression and its pulse-and-pattern-driven (rather than formulary-driven) presentation — characteristic of the JiāngZhè scholar-physician strand of late-Qīng medicine. It is a useful concise late-Qīng wàikē monograph on common skin disorders, valuable for its tight pulse–pattern–formula trinity and for evidence of the integration of zábìng 雜病 / shānghán 傷寒 pulse logic into wàikē.
The Chúnyìlú collection is little studied and the work’s authorship has not been recovered; further bibliographic work is needed. Authorial absence in catalog meta is preserved.
Translations and research
- No substantial study located. The Chún-yì-lú collection is little studied in either Chinese or Western scholarship; needs further bibliographic work.
Other points of interest
The work is logged in UNCERTAIN.md (authorship and exact date not recoverable from the source). A defensible terminus post quem is 1742 (the Yīzōng jīnjiàn’s publication, cited in the body); the terminus ante quem is the end of the Qīng (1911), beyond which no internal evidence suggests.
