About the work
A two-juǎn clinical casebook of the late-Qīng Jiāngnán physician Zhāng Wǎnxiāng. The hxwd directory for KR3ep026 contains only two files (_000.txt and _001.txt); the _000.txt is essentially empty / header-only, with the substantive text in _001.txt. The work is conventionally dated to the mid-to-late nineteenth century by internal stylistic markers and by the catalog meta’s dynasty assignment (清); biographical data on the author are thin.
Prefaces
The hxwd _000.txt is effectively a header marker with no preface text. No preface preserved in source.
Abstract
Zhāng Wǎnxiāng 張畹香 (CBDB 569619 records the name without dates) is a late-Qīng Jiāngnán physician about whom little is known beyond the surviving casebook. He is identified in some modern reference works as Zhāng Hùnzhāi 張混齋 of Shàoxīng 紹興, active in the mid-to-late nineteenth century — possibly within the Shàoxīng warm-disease tradition (compare KR3ep004 Shào Lánsūn and the Shàoxīng wēnbìng bājiā 紹興溫病八家 grouping). The exact identification is not secure. The composition window 1850–1900 reflects the conventional placement of his floruit in the mid-to-late Qīng. The work is transmitted only in late-Qīng manuscript copies and was repatriated through the hxwd project.
The clinical material is conservative-classical in style, with case-presentations using the Shānghán lùn prescription repertoire and the Sūzhōu wēnbìng light-dispersing aesthetic. As a Shàoxīng tradition document the work parallels KR3ep004 Shào Lánsūn yīàn without belonging to the same precise editorial line.
Translations and research
No substantial European-language secondary literature located. The work is treated briefly in modern Chinese surveys of the Shàoxīng warm-disease tradition.
