Bedside Medical Case Records Anonymous compiler.
About the work
A single-juǎn anonymous mid-Qīng casebook from the Wúsōng 吳淞 / Shànghǎi region. The cases are exactly dated; the opening case carries the precise date Dàoguāng dīngyǒu shíyī yuè shísì rì (Dàoguāng 17 = 14 November 1837) and is set on board the Shī Chángshùn shāchuán 施長順沙船 (a sand-junk in the Wúsōng / Yangtze-mouth coastal trade) — providing an unusually firm terminus ante quem and an unusual maritime clinical setting.
Prefaces
No transmitted preface in the source. The _000.txt opens directly with the first dated case.
Abstract
The casebook is set on the maritime trade route off Wúsōng — the patient-list includes 朱象兄 (a passenger / shāchuán client) at 35 suì, 浦大兄 of 吳淞南門外 (outside the south gate of Wúsōng), 浦良兄 of 吳淞 (Wúsōng), and 朱大兄 of 吳淞. The compiler is unnamed but is clearly a working clinician of the lower Yangtze coastal-trade community.
The clinical signature — careful pulse-and-tongue notation, light-aromatic-cleansing prescriptions for dōngwēn (冬溫, winter-warmth), xiéshí mēngzǔ (邪食蒙阻, blocked food-pathogens at middle-burner) — is characteristic of the late-Yè-school JiāngZhè urban tradition. The 1837 date situates the text in the lower-Yangtze medical milieu of the Dàoguāng period, contemporary with 李冠仙 Lǐ Guànxiān (KR3ep060). The composition window 1837–1880 reflects an active clinical career from the dated opening case to a presumed mid-Tóngzhì / Guāngxù compilation.
