About the work
A single-juǎn late-Qīng casebook of the Wúxī 無錫 physician Wāng Yìxiāng, transmitted via Republican-period serialisation in a medical journal as fragmentary salvage from a larger original. The preface explicitly notes that “his case-records were largely scattered and lost — a great regret” 醫案散佚無多，為一大缺憾, and that what survives was published in the present journal as “scattered pearls and broken jade” 雖屬零珠碎玉.
Prefaces
The _000.txt opens with a short editorial preface (unsigned) honouring Wāng as “a fine physician of the late Qīng, broad in learning and discernment, decisive in life-and-death judgement, divine-like in diagnosis.” The preface describes how the editor gathered the surviving cases and serialised them “issue by issue” 逐期披露 in a Republican-period medical journal “for fellow students of the profession to study.” This identifies the immediate textual transmission as Republican-period journal-serialised salvage.
Abstract
Wāng Yìxiāng 汪藝香 of Liángxī 梁溪 (a literary name for Wúxī 無錫, Jiāngsū) was a respected late-Qīng clinician in the Sūzhōu / Wúxī medical orbit, but no precise biographical record survives. The clinical signature in the surviving cases — light-cleansing xīnliáng (薄荷, 浮萍, 葛根, 豆豉, 杏仁, 鮮佛手), targeted kǔxiè (枳殼, 實花, 檳榔), and use of zhúlì gǔntán wán and yùshū dān for yīfúxié (lurking-pathogen) — places the work firmly in the late-Qīng 王士雄 Wáng Mèngyīng-school wēnbìng tradition.
The composition window 1840–1911 reflects a presumed nineteenth-century clinical career; the salvage-publication was an early-Republican enterprise.
