Yīlín suǒyǔ 醫林瑣語
Trifling Words from the Medical Forest by 陸九芝 Lù Jiǔzhī (běnmíng 本名 Lù Màoxiū 陸懋修, zì Jiǔzhī 九芝, hào Dìngpǔ 定圃, 1815–1887).
About the work
A one-juǎn clinical-philological miscellany of short numbered aphoristic entries by Lù Jiǔzhī — one of the principal mid-to-late nineteenth-century Wēnbìng 溫病-school physicians and clinical-textual scholars. The work consists of 200+ short paragraphs covering: classical formulary commentary (entries on 桂枝湯 风池/风府 acupoints, the cervical-skin grip technique for emergency drug administration), drug-and-symptom pairings (白芷 for 眉稜骨痛, 茯苓 for Sū Dōngpō 蘇東坡 longevity), philological-anecdotal asides (the Lù Jiǔzhī cross-reference to Wáng Hàogǔ 王好古 / Lóu Yīng 樓英 on alcohol-related sweating as a xuèzhèng 血證 indication), and clinical pedagogical maxims (the famous opening “yī zhī wèidào, mò guò yú bùshǐ bìng dà” 醫之為道莫過於不使病大 — “the way of medicine is nothing greater than not letting the illness grow”).

Abstract
Lù Jiǔzhī 陸九芝 (běnmíng 陸懋修, 1815–1887), Sūzhōu 蘇州 physician of the late Dàoguāng — Guāngxù period, was one of the most influential physician-scholars of late-Qīng Wēnbìng 溫病 medicine. Author of the Shìbǔzhāi yīshū 世補齋醫書 in 33 juǎn (1884), a major doctrinal-textual compendium combining commentary on the Shānghán lùn, Wēnbìng tiáobiàn 溫病條辨 (Wú Jūtōng’s KR3eq041’s manifesto), and the Sùwèn with extensive clinical case-records. The Yīlín suǒyǔ is the aphoristic-clinical-pedagogical companion to the Shìbǔzhāi yīshū — preserving Lù’s most concentrated short-form clinical teaching for student use. The composition window 1860–1880 reflects Lù’s mature clinical-pedagogical period. The work is preserved digitally at jicheng.tw.
Historiographical significance: Lù Jiǔzhī is one of the central late-Qīng Wēnbìng-school transmitter-figures, between Wú Jūtōng (cf. KR3eq041) and the late-Qīng / Republican Mènghé school (cf. KR3eq049). His doctrinal position is integrative — defending Yè Tiānshì / Wú Jūtōng Wēnbìng against the Shānghán-school orthodoxy while preserving the classical Shānghán / Jīnguì clinical method as the diagnostic-therapeutic substrate. Not in CBDB.
