Wáng Lǎng jí 王朗集
Collected Works of Wang Lang (Reconstructed) by 王朗 (撰)
About the work
A reconstructed collection (jíyìběn 輯佚本) of the writings of Wáng Lǎng 王朗 (d. 228 CE), Cáo Wèi 曹魏 grand councillor, classicist, and author. Organized in two juǎn, the surviving fragments are cited in the Wénxuǎn 文選 commentary tradition and the Tàipíng yùlǎn 太平御覽. Wang Lang was a prolific writer: the Suíshū Jīngjízhì 隋書經籍志 lists a Wáng Lǎng jí 王朗集 in twenty juǎn, of which nearly all is lost. The reconstruction draws on encyclopaedic quotations (lèishū 類書) and historical biographies.

Abstract
Wáng Lǎng 王朗 (d. 228 CE; zì Jǐngxīng 景興; posthumous title Chénghóu 成侯; CBDB id 37981) was a major figure of the early Cáo Wèi 曹魏 dynasty. A native of Dōnghǎi 東海 (modern Jiangsu), he served in turn under Cáo Cāo 曹操 and Cáo Pī 曹丕, rising to the position of Sītú 司徒 (Grand Councillor for Civil Affairs). He was a prominent classicist, particularly in the Yì 易 and Shū 書 traditions; his Zhōuyì chuán 周易傳 and Shūzhuàn 書傳 were influential works of early Wèi classical scholarship. He is the great-grandfather of Wáng Sù 王肅, the classical scholar who compiled the Kǒngzi jiāyǔ 孔子家語. His literary writings include memorials (biǎo 表) and letters (shū 書) addressed to the throne, as well as miscellaneous prose.
Wang Lang’s collected works (Wáng Lǎng jí 王朗集) were listed in twenty juǎn in the Suíshū Jīngjízhì and evidently circulated through the Tang; the Jiùtángshu Jīngjízhì still lists it. Only fragments survive, collected in Zhāng Pǔ 張溥’s Hàn Wèi Liùcháo bǎisān jiā jí 漢魏六朝百三家集 as Wáng Sītú jí 王司徒集. The present two-juǎn reconstruction is the jiyiben format.
