Abstract
Pān Ní 潘尼 (ca. 250–311 CE; zì Zhèngshū 正叔; CBDB: not confirmed in database) was a Western Jìn literary official from Yíngchuān 潁川 Zhōngmǔ 中牟, nephew of the celebrated poet Pān Yuè 潘岳. He held positions including Tàicháng qīng 太常卿 and other court offices. He perished during the Yǒngjia Disaster of 311 CE, when the Xiōngnú sacked Luòyáng. His biography is shared with his uncle in Jìnshū 晉書 juǎn 55.
His literary output, though less celebrated than Pān Yuè’s, was noted in the Shīpǐn 詩品 by Zhōng Róng 鍾嶸 (who ranked him in the upper middle grade) and by Liú Xiè 劉勰 in the Wénxīn diāolóng 文心雕龍. He wrote fù, shi 詩, and occasional prose. Zhāng Pǔ 張溥 included a Pān Zhèngshū jí 潘正叔集 in his Hàn Wèi Liùcháo bǎisān jiā jí 漢魏六朝百三家集.
