Fù Liàng jí 傅亮集

Collected Works of Fu Liang (Reconstructed) by 傅亮 (撰)

About the work

A reconstructed collection (jíyìběn 輯佚本) of the literary writings of Fù Liàng 傅亮 (374–426 CE), Liú Sòng 劉宋 founding-era grand official, imperial drafter, and poet. Organized in two juǎn, the fragments are cited in the Yìwén lèijù 藝文類聚 (particularly juǎn 53, which explicitly attributes a poem to “傅亮作”) and Sòngshū 宋書. The collection contains campaign poems composed during Liú Yù 劉裕’s 劉裕 military expeditions, including 〈從武帝平閩中〉 (Following Emperor Wu in Pacifying Fujian) and related occasional verse. Fu Liang was one of the principal court draughters of imperial documents under Liú Yù (Emperor Wu of Liu Song).

Abstract

Fù Liàng 傅亮 (374–426 CE; Jìyǒu 季友; CBDB id 11165) was a Liú Sòng 劉宋 dynasty senior official from Línhǎi 臨海 (modern Zhejiang). He served as Shàngshū pú shè 尚書僕射 (Vice Director of the Imperial Secretariat) and was one of the key aides who assisted Liú Yù in consolidating power and establishing the Liu Song dynasty in 420 CE. He personally drafted several crucial imperial rescripts related to the abdications and transfers of power at the end of Eastern Jin. After Emperor Wu (Liú Yù) died in 422, Fu Liang was a regent for the infant Emperor Shào; he was executed in 426 CE during the purge ordered by Emperor Wén 文帝 (Liú Yì 劉義隆). His biography is in Sòngshū 宋書 juǎn 43 and Nán shǐ 南史 juǎn 15.

As a literary writer, Fu Liang was primarily a drafter of official documents but also composed military and occasional verse. The Suíshū Jīngjízhì lists a Fù Liàng jí in twenty juǎn. Zhāng Pǔ 張溥 included a Fù Jìyǒu jí 傅季友集 in the Hàn Wèi Liùcháo bǎisān jiā jí 漢魏六朝百三家集.
