Zhāng Lǜ jí 張率集
Collected Works of Zhang Lü (Reconstructed) by 張率 (撰)
About the work
A reconstructed collection (jíyìběn 輯佚本) of the literary writings of Zhāng Lǜ 張率 (475–527 CE), Liáng 梁 court official and literary figure associated with the circle of Xiao Tong 蕭統 (Zhāomíng Tàizǐ 昭明太子). Organized in two juǎn, the fragments are cited at Shī jì 詩紀 juǎn 66 and documented through citations in the Liángshū biographies of contemporaries (including Liángshū Xiao Tong zhuàn, Ming Shanbin zhuàn, Yu Zhongrong zhuàn, Dao Qia zhuàn, Zhang Mian zhuàn, and Yin Jun zhuàn). The editorial note “又見《張率傳》” (line 8545) confirms that the text in question is also cited in Zhang Lü’s own biography. The file contains both Buddhist epistolary letters (signed “某和南” — using the placeholder 某 for the sender’s name in formal Buddhist closings) and secular court verse.

Abstract
Zhāng Lǜ 張率 (475–527 CE; zì Shìjiǎn 士简; CBDB id 106637) was a Liáng dynasty official from Wújùn 吳郡 Wú 吳 (modern Suzhou). He was a close literary associate of Xiao Tong 蕭統 (Zhāomíng Tàizǐ 昭明太子, the crown prince who compiled the Wénxuǎn 文選) and participated in the Zhāomíng literary salon. He held positions including court draftsman and literary official. His biography is in Liángshū juǎn 33 and Nán shǐ juǎn 40.
Zhang Lü’s literary output included Buddhist correspondence (he was a lay Buddhist devotee), court verse, and elegant prose in the parallel-prose tradition. The Jianwen Emperor (Xiao Gang), while serving as Prince of Jing’an (Jìng’ān Wáng 晉安王) and Governor of Danyang (Dānyang yǐn 丹陽尹), is recorded as having consulted Zhang Lü officially — attesting to Zhang Lü’s senior standing at court. He died in 527. The Suíshū Jīngjízhì records a Zhāng Lǜ jí in ten juǎn. Zhāng Pǔ 張溥 included a Zhāng Shìjiǎn jí 張士简集 in the Hàn Wèi Liùcháo bǎisān jiā jí 漢魏六朝百三家集.
