Jiǎnzhāi shī wàijí 簡齋詩外集 in 1 juǎn is a supplementary collection of Chén Yǔyì 陳與義 (1090–1138) poetry and prose preserving pieces excluded from the main Jiǎnzhāi shījí recensions KR4d0153, KR4d0154. It contains roughly 40 short pieces — predominantly cìyùn and occasional verse — together with three short prose pieces (Yánmíng 研銘 inkstone-inscription; Yíxuān jì 頤軒記; Qí Guō Jiédùfù mùzhìmíng 跂郭節度父墓誌銘). The yǐn 引 (introduction) — by 晦齋 Huìzhāi (= Liú Chénwēng 劉辰翁) — is identical to the preface preserved in KR4d0153 and dates to xuányì dūnzāng 玄黓敦牂 (= 壬午 rénwǔ 1222).

The yǐn 引 by 晦齋 (Liú Chénwēng 劉辰翁) — the same preface preserved in KR4d0153 yuányǐn — reproduces the standard Sòng-period appraisal of Chén Yǔyì: poetic descent from Dù Fǔ via Sū Shì and Huáng Tíngjiān; Chén’s distinctive achievement is his independent zìchéng yījiā (forming his own school) within this lineage. The preface concludes with biographical particulars: Chén’s Mò méi shī won imperial favour under Huīzōng; he served in the bìshū 祕書 office; took charge of imperial drafting; and reached Cānzhī zhèngshì under Gāozōng. This wàijí serves as the bibliographic supplement to the main collection.
Abstract
The Jiǎnzhāi shī wàijí preserves Chén Yǔyì’s occasional pieces that did not enter the main Jiǎnzhāi shījí recensions. The dominant pattern is cìyùn (matching-rhyme) verse exchanged with friends and patrons — particularly the unnamed pànfǔ 判府 dàizhì 待制 prefect/lord at whose seat Chén stayed for an extended period. A long sequence of měng 蒙 (“having received…”) incipits indicates that most of these pieces are courteous responses to gifts, poems, and ceremonial occasions. The three prose pieces — particularly the tomb inscription for Guō Jiédùfù 郭節度父 — are scarce specimens of Chén’s prose composition (the SBCK jí contains primarily verse).
The composition window matches Chén’s overall career (1113–1138). Lifedates are consistent across CBDB and standard sources.

- No dedicated study of the wài-jí located. The pieces are absorbed into Wáng Cì-méng 王次孟 ed., Chén Yǔ-yì jí jiào-jiān 陳與義集校箋 (Shànghǎi guǔ-jí, 1990).
