About the work
This is an early SòngYuán transmitted text-line of the Cǎotáng shīyú KR4j0070 in two juǎn, divided as qiánjí 前集 (“front volume”) and hòují 後集 (“back volume”), with substantial interlinear / suffix annotation: source-of-allusion attribution for each line, cíhuà identifying the běnshì, and prosodic remarks. The SBCK preserves this version under its own SBCK number (SB14n322). Where the WYG Cǎotáng shīyú KR4j0070 follows the Míng Gù Cóngjìng cutting (4 juǎn), this Zēngxiū jiānzhù version is an older, smaller text-line — typographically tightly annotated, with the Huāān and Juémiào hǎocí cíhuà (which the Sìkù tíyào identifies as later supplementations to the Cǎotáng) being a primary feature. Compiler and annotator are both anonymous in the transmitted form.
Prefaces
The SBCK _000.txt file opens directly with cí-text (no preface). The annotation is dense: every line is glossed against a Táng / Sòng source, often citing Dù Fǔ, Lǐ Hè, Wēn Tíngyún, Wéi Yīngwù, etc.; the Huāān cíhuà on the zhāngfǎ (structure) of Ruìlóngyín 瑞龍吟 is supplied at the end of the first piece. The contents of the front volume open with Zhōu Bāngyàn’s Ruìlóngyín on “Chūnjǐng”; then go through Huáng Tíngjiān’s Mòshānxī, Ruǎn Yì’s Huāxīndòng, etc. The format is the late-Sòng / Yuán annotated cípǔ tradition.
Abstract
The Zēngxiū jiānzhù miàoxuǎn qúnyīng Cǎotáng shīyú qiánhòu jí is the principal Yuán-period annotated witness of the Cǎotáng shīyú — preceding the Míng Shànghǎi Gù Cóngjìng cutting (the basis of KR4j0070’s WYG text). Modern scholarship (Lóng Mùxūn 龍沐勳; Xià Chéngtāo 夏承燾) treats this Zēngxiū text as the principal early witness for many Northern-Sòng cí-attributions, with allusion-annotations that occasionally preserve readings or sources otherwise lost. Catalogues record numerous YuánMíng cuttings of the Cǎotáng in the qiánhòu jí format with annotation; the SBCK reproduces the best of these. The annotation, while of Yuán date, builds on Sòng-period precedents (compare the Juémiào hǎocí’s biographical apparatus). The Sòng-loyalist / SòngYuán transmission window of c. 1200–1290 is approximate; the underlying cí text descends from the late-12th-century Cǎotáng original, but the annotation is later.

The presence of annotation in this text-line is what distinguishes it bibliographically from the WYG Cǎotáng shīyú KR4j0070: the Sìkù editors stripped the annotation from their text (preserving the bare cí), whereas the SBCK preserves the late-Sòng / Yuán annotated tradition intact. The annotation is itself a substantial document of SòngYuán cí-philology.
