Nán Qiān Lù 南遷錄
Record of the Southern Exile by 張師顔
About the work
A lù 錄 (record) by 張師顔 Zhāng Shīyán (CBDB id 119954), a Jin-dynasty official who served as a court diarist (握筆東觀) and was assigned as a ritual attendant (lǐláng 禮郎) during an imperial journey. The preface is dated to a “Dàdìng jiǎxū winter” (大定甲戌冬), which corresponds to Dàdìng 大定 14 (1174 CE). The work appears to document the experiences of Jin court officials during a southward relocation or imperial tour.

Abstract
張師顔 Zhāng Shīyán (CBDB id 119954; fl. mid-12th century) served in the Jin court bureaucracy. The preface to the Nán Qiān Lù frames the work as a personal record compiled while serving as a recording official (握筆東觀) during an imperial journey southward (nánqiān 南遷). The preface surveys the history of the Jin dynasty from Taizu’s (Aguda’s 阿骨打) founding through Taizong’s 太宗 defeat of Liao and Song, positioning the author’s account in the context of Jin dynastic glory.
The title “southern exile” (Nán Qiān) and the content of the preface suggest this may record the experiences of Song officials or Jin officials involved in interactions with the Southern Song court, or possibly a Jin court southward tour in the context of border diplomacy. The CBDB note “據宋史列傳” (based on Sòngshǐ biography) raises the possibility that Zhang Shiyan served in both the Song and Jin contexts, though the primary text appears to be a Jin composition.
The work is minor and obscure; no dedicated scholarly treatment in English has been located.
