Sānshí Guó Chūnqiū 三十國春秋 (Wǔ Mǐnzhī)
Spring and Autumn of the Thirty States, by Wu Minzhi by 武敏之
About the work
Sānshí Guó Chūnqiū 三十國春秋 by Wǔ Mǐnzhī 武敏之 is a jíyìběn reconstruction of a lost comprehensive history of the Sixteen Kingdoms and related regimes, organized in the annalistic chūnqiū 春秋 (spring and autumn annals) format. The “Thirty States” encompassed not only the Sixteen Kingdoms proper but also smaller or more transient polities of the period.

Abstract
The Sānshí Guó Chūnqiū was a popular genre title in the Southern Dynasties; it was used by at least two authors for comprehensive histories of the Sixteen Kingdoms period. Wǔ Mǐnzhī’s version is the less well-known of the two. The Suí Shū 隋書 bibliography records his Sānshí Guó Chūnqiū in 1 juǎn, suggesting it was a concise treatment. The more famous 30-juǎn version was by Xiāo Fāngděng 蕭方等 (KR4k0390). Wǔ Mǐnzhī’s surviving fragments are modest, drawn from Táng and Sòng citations, and cover events from the early fourth through the early fifth centuries across the fragmented political landscape of North China.
