Abstract

Kuàijī was a major center of culture and scholarship during the Hàn, Wei, and Jin dynasties, home to prominent clans such as the Yǔ 虞, Hè 賀, and Kǒng 孔 lineages. The Kuàijī Diǎnlù was a regional history that compiled biographies of local worthies and records of local institutions. The Suí Shū 隋書 bibliography records several Kuàijī regional texts, reflecting the area’s status as the cultural heartland of the southeast after the Jin court’s move south.

The surviving fragments are very few, recording brief biographical notices on local figures. They were recovered from Táng and Sòng citations, particularly the Tàipíng Yùlǎn 太平御覽 and the Shìshuō Xīnyǔ 世說新語 commentary. The text was lost after the Táng.
