About the work
Xiàozǐ Zhuàn 孝子傳 by Zhèng Jī 鄭緝 is a jíyìběn reconstruction of a minor lost collection of filial son biographies. Zhèng Jī is otherwise obscure; the Suí Shū 隋書 bibliography records a Xiàozǐ Zhuàn attributed to him. The surviving fragments are very few, recovered from Táng and Sòng citations.

Abstract
The fragments preserve brief narratives of filial devotion typical of the genre, including children who endured hardship and performed extraordinary acts of service for their parents. They overlap in content with the other xiàozǐ zhuàn collections in this division, reflecting the shared repertoire of filial piety exempla that circulated in early medieval China. The text was lost after the Táng.
