Jīnlù wǎncháo yí 金籙晚朝儀
Evening-Audience Liturgy of the Golden-Register Fast
About the work
The seventh of the Dù Guāngtíng Jīnlù 金籙 cycle (KR5b0167–KR5b0181); the evening audience of the Jīnlù-fast daily cháo sequence, transmitted with KR5b0171 and KR5b0172 as 三儀同卷. The opening hymn Shénguāng lǎngyào 神光朗曜 (“Divine light shines forth, auspicious vapour wreathes round, the Winnowing-and-Dipper purified in luminance, zhīyǔ tranquil; jade-eye and golden-perfected, the treasure-altar pure Qián”) is closely parallel to that of KR5b0156 Hóng’ēn Língjì wǎncháo — evidence that the early-Míng Língjì cycle inherited its cháo diction from this Tang prototype.
Abstract
The evening audience presents the wǎnzhāng 晚章 memorial to the celestial bureau at the yǒu (5–7 p.m.) hour. Schipper & Verellen (Taoist Canon 2: 994–996, entry by John Lagerwey). The text closes with the yǐnshēng 引聲 dismissal and the huíxiàng dedication of the day’s accumulated merit toward the imperial-state purposes of the Jīnlù rite.
