About the work

A seven-fascicle Chen-dynasty translation of the Suvikrāntavikrāmiparipṛcchā Prajñāpāramitā — a Mahāyāna paripṛcchā-form prajñā sūtra. Translated by Upaśūnya 月婆首那 in 565 CE. Signature: 「陳優禪尼國王子月婆首那譯」. The Taishō header cross-references [KR6c0001|T220]玄奘 Xuánzàng’s later integration as the sixth huì of T220.

Abstract

T231 is the only stand-alone Chinese translation of the Suvikrāntavikrāmi-paripṛcchā Prajñāpāramitā; the same Indic source is preserved in T220 as the sixth huì. Sanskrit edition: Hikata 1958. The Suvikrāntavikrāmin is one of the Mahāyāna prajñā-paripṛcchā class sūtras with the bodhisattva king as the questioner; doctrinally compatible with the Aṣṭasāhasrikā tradition. The translation is dated to Tàijiàn 太建 1 = 565 CE in the Chen capital at Yángzhōu.
