About the work
A seven-juan Northern Sòng sub-commentary by Chángshuǐ Zǐxuán 長水子璿 (965–1038) on 宗密 Zōngmì’s (780–841) Jīngāng jīng shūlùn zuǎnyào 金剛般若經疏論纂要 (KR6c0041). The work provides extensive sub-commentarial elucidation of Zōngmì’s Tang-period Vajracchedikā commentary, with particular attention to the textual-critical “establishment-and-cutting” (kāndìng 刊定) of variant readings and editorial decisions. Preserved at T33 no. 1702.
Abstract
Authorship: by Zǐxuán 子璿 (965–1038), the principal Sòng-period editorial-redactor of Zōngmì’s commentarial corpus. notBefore = 990, notAfter = 1038.
The work is the substantive sub-commentary companion to Zǐxuán’s structural-extract KR6c0040 and his editorial-redaction work on Zōngmì’s Vajracchedikā commentary KR6c0041. Together the three works constitute Zǐxuán’s complete editorial-and-commentarial intervention in the Zōngmì Vajracchedikā tradition.
