Abstract

Huìjìng (lay surname Fáng 房; native of Chángshān 常山; 578 – after 645) was an early-Tang scholar-monk known particularly for his role in early-Tang Buddhist debates against Daoist polemicists. He produced commentaries on the Vajracchedikā, the Heart Sūtra, the Wúliàngshòu jīng, and other Mahāyāna canonical texts, plus a now-lost large-scale Mahāyāna doctrinal compendium.
