Oral Decisions on the Diamond Sūtra attributed to 慧能 (Huìnéng, 說, attributed)
About the work
A single-juan brief oral-instruction collection on the Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā-sūtra, attributed to Huìnéng 慧能 (638–713), the Sixth Patriarch of Chinese Chán. Like KR6c0047 (the same author’s Jiěyì), the Huìnéng attribution is modern-scholarly disputed — the text is plausibly a Sòng-period Chán-school composition. Preserved at X24 no. 460. notBefore = 700, notAfter = 900.
Abstract
The “oral decision” (kǒujué 口訣) format reflects the Chán-school’s emphasis on direct master-to-disciple oral transmission — making the work, whether or not authentically Huìnéng’s, a documentary witness to Chán-school Vajracchedikā commentarial practice in the oral-instruction format.
