Jīngāng jīng zhèngjiě 金剛經正解
Correct Explanation of the Diamond Sūtra by 龔穊綵 Gōng Jìcǎi (註)
About the work
A two-juan mid-Qīng (Yōngzhèng / Qiánlóng-era) lay-Buddhist Vajracchedikā commentary by the layman Gōng Jìcǎi (sobriquet Shèngxián jūshì 剩閒居士), with editorial collation by the layman 扈正智 Hù Zhèngzhì (sobriquet Liánfǎng jūshì 蓮舫居士). The catalog credit-line zhù 註 (“annotation”) and the title-character zhèngjiě (“correct explanation”) together identify the genre: a verse-by-verse explanatory commentary aimed at lay readers. Preserved as X25 no. 498. The text bears no internal date; notBefore / notAfter set conservatively to the Yōngzhèng / Qiánlóng era (1722–1795). Catalog dynasty 清.
Abstract
The text follows the Liáng Zhāomíng 32-section division, with each section opened by a brief introductory note (fǎhuì yīnyóu fēn dìyī etc.) followed by sūtra text in larger character and annotation in smaller. The annotation distinguishes a 【註】 layer (basic gloss) from extended explanation (set off by larger interlinear blocks where necessary). The opening is canonical: rúshì zhě, zhǐ cǐ jīng suǒ yán zhī fǎ yě (“‘thus’ refers to the dharma expounded in this sūtra”); wǒ. jí jīngzhě zìwèi, jí Ānán yě (“‘I’ is the sūtra-collector’s self-reference, namely Ānanda”). The work is one of the more stable lay-Buddhist zhèngjiě productions of the period, serving as a study-edition for the moderately-trained reader without commitments to a particular doctrinal school.
