Fǎhuá jīng yǎnyì kē 法華經演義科

Sectional Analysis of the Lotus Sūtra Expounded-Meaning Commentary by 廣和 (Guǎnghé, 標科 — labelled-sections compiler)

About the work

A single-juan sectional-analysis ( 科) navigational apparatus to 一松 Yīsōng’s Fǎhuá jīng yǎnyì (KR6d0091, X33n0625, 7 juan), compiled by 廣和 Guǎnghé — the early-Qīng monastic editor who also redacted Yīsōng’s main commentary into its definitive form. The work is preserved as X33n0624 in the Xùzàngjīng.

Prefaces

The text in the X33n0624 recension carries the standard front-matter material, which includes the Xīnkè Fǎhuá yǎnyì xù 新刻法華演義序 by 曉柔 Xiǎoróu — the principal source for Yīsōng’s biographical obscurity (Xiǎoróu states: “the Master is not known of what country he was, nor is his era clearly understood”).

Abstract

The Yǎnyì kē provides the structural-outline navigational apparatus to Yīsōng’s Yǎnyì main commentary, parallel to other Qīng-period productions on major commentarial works. Its compilation by Guǎnghé — the same editor responsible for the main commentary’s final redaction — demonstrates the integrated editorial production typical of the late-imperial monastic publishing tradition.

The dating is bracketed within Guǎnghé’s productive period in the early Qīng (Shùnzhì through Kāngxī eras, 1644–1722).
