About the work
A single-juan late-Táng record of Zhànrán’s Shí bùèr mén (KR6d0157, T1927), extracted-and-published (錄出 lùchū) by Dàosuì 道邃 — the tenth Tiāntái patriarch and Saichō’s Chinese teacher. The work preserves the Shí bùèr mén in a slightly different recension or with editorial framing distinct from the Taishō T1927 recension, demonstrating the post-Zhànrán textual transmission at Tiāntáishān.

Abstract
Dàosuì’s Shí bùèr mén yì belongs together with his Zhǐguān jìzhōng yìyì (KR6d0136) as the principal documentary witnesses to Dàosuì’s role as the post-Zhànrán Tiāntái scholastic transmitter at Tiāntáishān. The work is consequently of substantial historiographical importance for the modern reconstruction of late-Táng Tiāntái scholastic activity.
The composition is bracketed within Dàosuì’s productive period c. 800–850.
