About the work
A single-juan late-Míng companion-commentary by Ǒuyì Zhìxù 蕅益智旭 on his own Jiàoguān gāngzōng (KR6d0188, T1939), providing additional interpretive notes on contested or obscure points in the main treatise. Together with the Gāngzōng itself, it constitutes Zhìxù’s two-text apparatus on the Tiāntái doctrinal-meditative system.
Abstract
Zhìxù’s Shìyì belongs together with the Gāngzōng as a coordinated two-text pedagogical apparatus, with the Gāngzōng providing the main systematic exposition and the Shìyì providing supplementary interpretive notes on selected passages. The composition is bracketed with the Gāngzōng in Zhìxù’s mature productive period c. 1641–1655.
