A single-juan meditation-liturgical manual by Zhìyǐ 智顗 on the fāngděng sānmèi 方等三昧 (“Vaipulya samādhi”), one of the four kinds of samādhi (sì zhǒng sānmèi 四種三昧) systematised by Zhìyǐ in the Móhē zhǐguān (KR6d0130).

Abstract

The Fāngděng sānmèi xíngfǎ belongs together with the Fǎhuá sānmèi chànyí (KR6d0191) and other Tiāntái meditation-liturgical manuals as the foundational liturgical apparatus of the Tiāntái meditative tradition. The composition is bracketed within Zhìyǐ’s productive period c. 575–597.
