Chìshèngguāng dàochǎng niànsòng yí 熾盛光道場念誦儀
Recitation Liturgy for the Blazing-Light Dàochǎng by 遵式 (Zūnshì / Cíyún chànzhǔ, 撰)
About the work
A single-juan Northern-Sòng recitation liturgy by Zūnshì 遵式 (964–1032) for the Chìshèngguāng 熾盛光 (“Blazing-Light”) dàochǎng 道場 (ritual area) tradition — a Mahāyāna-Tantric apotropaic practice associated with the Tejaprabha-Buddha (the Buddha of Blazing Light) for protection against astral and karmic calamities.
Abstract
Zūnshì’s Niànsòng yí belongs to his comprehensive late-Northern-Sòng liturgical apparatus and demonstrates the integration of Mahāyāna-Tantric protective practices into the standard Tiāntái devotional tradition. The composition is bracketed within Zūnshì’s productive period at Tiānzhúsì in Hángzhōu, c. 996–1032.
