Huáyán xuán tán huì xuán jì 華嚴懸談會玄記
Compilation of “Convergence on the Profound” Notes on the Profound Discourses of the Huáyán by 普瑞 (Pǔruì, 集 / compiled)
About the work
The Huì xuán jì in 40 fascicles is the great Yuán-period synthesis-commentary by 普瑞 Pǔruì on the xuán tán (玄談 — preliminary doctrinal essays) sections of 澄觀 Chéngguān’s [[KR6e0011|Shū]] and [[KR6e0012|Chāo]]. At 40 fascicles, this is the largest single Yuán Buddhist commentarial work on a Tang Buddhist text, drawing together the entire Sòng-period commentary tradition on Chéngguān’s xuán tán into a unified doctrinal apparatus.

Abstract
The bracket adopted here (1300 – 1368) reflects the Yuán dynasty period during which the work was composed. The 40-fascicle scope makes the Huì xuán jì one of the most ambitious Buddhist commentarial projects of the Yuán dynasty, comparable in scope to the parallel Sòng huì běn projects ([[KR6e0021|ShūChāo huì běn]], [[KR6e0066|Hé lùn]]). Its consolidation of the Sòng commentary tradition makes it an essential reference for understanding the late-imperial Chinese Huáyán-school doctrinal landscape.
The work is preserved in the Manji Xù zàng jīng (X236) collection.

Other points of interest
- The 40-fascicle scope of the Huì xuán jì is exceptional for a Yuán-period Buddhist commentarial work, and reflects the deep continuity of Tang-Sòng-Yuán Huáyán-school scholarship over nearly seven centuries.
