Huáyán Qīngliáng guóshī lǐ zàn wén 華嚴清涼國師禮讚文
Worship-Eulogy of the National Preceptor Qīngliáng [Chéngguān] of the Huáyán [School] by 智肱 (Zhìgōng, 述)
About the work
This 1-fascicle text by 智肱 Zhìgōng is a Buddhist liturgical worship-eulogy (lǐ zàn wén 禮讚文) honoring 澄觀 Chéngguān (the Qīngliáng guóshī) — the fourth Huáyán patriarch and the most important Tang Huáyán-school authority. The text functions as a devotional liturgy used in SòngYuánMíng Huáyán monastic worship of the school’s patriarchs.

Abstract
The bracket adopted here (1050 – 1100) reflects 智肱 Zhìgōng’s mature Northern-Sòng activity in the lineage of Chángshuǐ Zǐjùn. The work documents the Sòng Huáyán-school’s ritualisation of its own patriarchal lineage — the same impulse that produced the qī zǔ xíng jì 七祖行蹟 list of seven patriarchs (J B005) and the related Sòng-period Huáyán-lineage literature.
The work is preserved in the Manji Xù zàng jīng (X1471) collection.
