About the work

This 1-fascicle text by 惟勁 Wéijìn (active Later-Tang, c. 920 – 936 CE) is a commentary on 杜順 Dùshùn’s [[KR6e0160|Xuánfù jì]] (F1083). Preserved in the Fángshān stone-canon (F1082), it is one of the few extant Later-Tang Buddhist commentaries on a Tang Huáyán-school work.

Abstract

The bracket adopted here (920 – 936) reflects the Later-Tang dynasty (後唐, 923 – 936) within which Wéijìn was active. The work documents the continuing tradition of Huáyán-school doctrinal study during the brief Later-Tang period, between the Tang collapse (907) and the Sòng founding (960).

The work is preserved in the Fángshān shí jīng 房山石經 collection (F1082).
