The Sūtra Spoken by the Buddha on the Decisive Vinaya (Vinaya-viniścaya-upāli-paripṛcchā) by 燉煌三藏 (Tripiṭaka of Dūnhuáng, 譯)
About the work
This 1-fascicle text by the unidentified Dūnhuáng sān zàng (“Tripiṭaka of Dūnhuáng”) is the Vinaya-viniścaya-upāli-paripṛcchā — the Mahāyāna sūtra on Upāli’s inquiry concerning vinaya (monastic discipline) decisions, presented from a bodhisattva-yāna rather than a śrāvaka-yāna perspective. The work is incorporated into the [[KR6f0001|Mahā-ratnakūṭa]] as assembly 24 (Yōubōlí huì 優波離會).

Abstract
The translation is conventionally placed in the Western-Jìn period (266 – 316 CE), the bracket of the Dūnhuáng sān zàng honorific. The bracket adopted here reflects this window. The text is the most important Mahāyāna vinaya-related text in the early Chinese tradition, presenting the bodhisattva-yāna perspective on monastic-discipline decisions.
The Taishō text (T0325) is established on the standard apparatus.
