About the work
The Luóyún rěnrǔ jīng (T500) is a one-fascicle short sūtra translated by the Western Jìn monk 法炬 Fǎjù (fl. 290–306 CE). The protagonist Luóyún 羅云 is Rāhula, the Buddha’s son. The text is a teaching on kṣānti (forbearance, patience) given by Rāhula.

The text opens with the canonical formula. The colophon attributes the translation to Fǎjù.
Abstract
This is one of about 30 short Hīnayāna sūtras translated by Fǎjù, often in collaboration with 法立 Fǎlì (the two are sometimes confused). The text portrays Rāhula as the model practitioner of kṣānti pāramitā — the Mahāyāna sixth perfection of forbearance. Fǎjù’s translation career is dated to the Yuánkāng 元康 to Yǒngxīng 永興 reign-eras (290–306 CE).
