About the work

The Fóshuō Shì tóngzǐ jīng (T527) is a one-fascicle short sūtra by the Western Jìn translator Zhī Fǎdù 支法度 (支法度). The protagonist Shì tóngzǐ 逝童子 (“the Boy Shì”) is parallel to KR6i0158 Púsà Shì jīng (T528).

Abstract

A short avadāna-style narrative on a boy who attains bodhisattva-vyākaraṇa. Zhī Fǎdù was active around 290–306 CE in the late Western Jìn; this is one of his few surviving translations. Cf. KR6i0158 for the parallel text by Bái Fǎzǔ.
