Fóshuō yuèdēng sānmèi jīng 佛說月燈三昧經

Sūtra on the Moon-Lamp Samādhi as Spoken by the Buddha (different fascicle) translated by 先公 (Xiāngōng, 譯)

About the work

T641 (one fascicle, alt. title 文殊師利菩薩十事行經 Sūtra on the Ten Practices of the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī) is a second one-fascicle excerpt of the Samādhirāja-sūtra by the same translator 先公 who produced T640. The two excerpts cover different portions of the underlying Sanskrit Samādhirāja: T641 presents the ten-practices doctrine attached to Mañjuśrī, while T640 covers the central Moon-Lamp passage.

Abstract

The text is unanimously catalogued as a Liú-Sòng work by 先公; the [[KR6s0084|Chū sānzàng jì jí]] (T2145) records both T640 and T641 under the same translator-name. As with T640, no further information about 先公 has been recovered; he is classed in the canonical bibliographies only by this name and by his Liú-Sòng era. Date bracket: Liú-Sòng (420–479). The text corresponds to a different chapter of the Samādhirāja than T640, and the alternate title (Wénshūshīlì púsà shíshì xíng jīng) reflects its content: the ten-practices teaching delivered to Mañjuśrī. Comparison with T639 (the complete Narendrayaśas version) is the standard route into T641.
