About the work
X362 is 受汰’s four-fascicle Ming-period topical-with-annotation (科註) edition of [[KR6i0301|Jīnguāngmíng jīng 金光明經]] (T663). The genre combines a kē 科 (structural outline) with a zhù 註 (running annotation): the sūtra is laid out under nested topical headings, each followed by an exegetical note. The Jiāxìng 嘉興 edition is the textual basis preserved in the Xuzangjing; the editing brings together the Tiāntái commentarial line.
Prefaces
The work opens with 受汰’s own xù 敘, which lays out the genre-history with admirable clarity: the xuányì 玄義 explicates the title, the wénjù 文句 divides the chapters and sections; “from the Lotus downward, only the present sūtra is read in this paired manner” (法華而下惟今經例之), thanks to “Tiāntái Zhìzhě dàshī” (= 智顗) — by which 受汰 means precisely the Suvarṇaprabhāsa commentaries T1783 and T1785. He continues that “Master Zhāngān (= 灌頂) recorded what was spoken, transmitting it to later students; coming down to the Sòng, the Venerable of Sìmíng (= 知禮) firmly took up the [Tiāntái] revival as his personal task… he composed Jì (i.e. T1784 and T1786) and elaborated their meaning.”
Abstract
The work is therefore a synthetic Tiāntái commentary: a Ming-period assemblage of the school’s complete commentarial position on T663, drawing from T1783, T1785, T1784, and T1786 under 受汰’s editorial frame. Date bracket conservatively follows the generic “Ming dynasty” ascription of 受汰 in the DILA Authority record (A000553). 受汰 was a bhikṣu of the Ān-guósì 安國寺 in Yánguān 鹽官 (modern Hǎiníng) and a disciple of Tóngxī Héshàng 桐谿和尚.
