Fó shuō yújiā dàjiàowáng jīng 佛說瑜伽大教王經
Sūtra of the Buddha’s Speaking of the Yoga Great-Teaching-King by 法賢 (Fǎxián [= Tiānxīzāi after renaming], 譯)
About the work
A five-fascicle Sòng-period Esoteric yoga-tantra translation by Fǎxián (法賢) — the renamed Tiānxīzāi after 987. The text presents a Vajra-yoga jiàowáng (great-teaching-king) scripture parallel to the Sarvatathāgatatattvasaṃgraha tradition.
Abstract
The Yújiā dàjiàowáng jīng is one of Fǎxián’s principal Esoteric scripture translations, presenting an advanced yoga-tantra scripture organised around the Vajra-yoga doctrinal framework. The five fascicles cover the doctrinal exposition and ritual practice. The translation dates from Fǎxián’s mature Yìjīngyuàn career (987–1001).
