The Three Siddhi Accomplishments of All Dhāraṇī, the Mind-Ground Dharma-Gateway of the Pure Dharmakāya Mahāvairocana (anonymous)

About the work

A one-fascicle anonymous Esoteric text on the three siddhi accomplishments (三種悉地 sānzhǒng xīdì) of the dhāraṇī-practice tradition, attributed to the xīndì fǎmén (Mind-Ground Dharma-Gateway) of the pure dharmakāya Mahāvairocana. The title encodes the central Esoteric doctrine that the cosmic dharmakāya Mahāvairocana, in his pure form, is the source of all dhāraṇī practice and the goal of the three-fold siddhi (śāntika / pauṣṭika / abhicāra; or alternatively the three soteriological levels of siddhi).

Abstract

The text presents an Esoteric exposition organised around (i) the doctrinal foundation of the dharmakāya Mahāvairocana as ground of all practice, (ii) the three siddhi attainments and their relationships to the threefold karma of body-speech-mind, and (iii) the dhāraṇī practices that lead to each siddhi-attainment. The text is anonymously transmitted and conventionally dated to the late Tang to Sòng period (8th–10th c.).
