Fóxīn jīng 佛心經
Sūtra of the Buddha-Heart (Skt. Buddhahṛdaya-sūtra?) by 菩提流志 (Bodhiruci II, 譯)
About the work
A two-fascicle Esoteric dhāraṇī scripture translated by Bodhiruci II 菩提流志 (菩提流志, 572?–727?), the great Tang Indian-pilgrim translator at the Wǔ-Zhōu / Kāiyuán courts. The text presents a Buddha-heart (fóxīn 佛心) doctrinal-Esoteric scripture in the dhāraṇī-class tradition.
Abstract
The Fóxīn jīng presents a doctrinal-Esoteric scripture organised around the Buddha-heart concept — the cosmic-essence of all Buddhas as their unitary “heart” (hṛdaya). The two-fascicle structure covers the doctrinal exposition and the dhāraṇī-recitation practice. The translation dates from Bodhiruci’s documented Chángān period (693–727).
