Yoga-Practice Ritual Manual for the Victorious Buddha-Crown by 善無畏 Shànwúwèi (Śubhakarasiṃha, 譯)
About the work
A two-fascicle Esoteric yoga practice ritual manual by Śubhakarasiṃha (善無畏) for the Uṣṇīṣa-vijaya (Zūnshèng fódǐng — Victorious Buddha-Crown) practice. The text gives the elaborated yoga-tantra version of the Uṣṇīṣa-vijaya practice, integrating the dhāraṇī-recitation with the broader Esoteric yoga-mandala framework.
Abstract
Śubhakarasiṃha’s two-fascicle ritual manual is one of the principal Táng Esoteric codifications of the Uṣṇīṣa-vijaya practice. Where Amoghavajra’s later T972 (KR6j0149) gives the daily-practice recitation manual, Śubhakarasiṃha’s T973 gives the more elaborate yoga practice for advanced practitioners. The translation dates from Śubhakarasiṃha’s Cháng’ān period (716–735).
