Fóshuō Xūkōngzàng púsà tuóluóní 佛說虛空藏菩薩陀羅尼
Ākāśagarbha Bodhisattva Dhāraṇī Spoken by the Buddha by 法賢 (Fǎxián, 譯)
About the work
A one-fascicle Northern Sòng dhāraṇī text translated by Făxián (法賢, d. 1001). Colophon: 西天譯經三藏朝散大夫試光祿卿明教大師臣法賢奉詔譯. The work has no narrative frame: it consists of the dhāraṇī formula transliterated in Chinese characters with two-syllable conjunct markers (二合) and reading-glosses.
Abstract
The text presents a stand-alone Ākāśagarbha dhāraṇī: namo vipulanāyana, prasāritanaya-nāva-bhāse… ākāśa-garbha… gagana-mañcāra… sakala-bhuvana-maṇḍala-vyāstrayatale, oṃ svasti, balajit-vipula-saṃbhava, dharma-dhātu-añcārāya… (reconstructed from the transliteration). It belongs to the Northern Sòng pattern of producing short dhāraṇī-only texts as votive amulets and recitation talismans, derived from larger Indic Ākāśagarbha-sūtra materials but pruned to the vidyā-formula alone. Distinct from the longer narrative-frame KR6j0364 (T1147, Făhuán) and the ritual manual KR6j0362/KR6j0363. Făxián’s translation activity at the Bureau spanned 989–1001; this work falls in that bracket.
