Abstract

The text is one of the early Chinese translations on the uposatha fast as adapted for Mahāyāna lay practice. Niè Dàozhēn was a son of the Western-Jìn translator 聶承遠 Niè Chéngyuǎn and continued his father’s translation activities. His texts are among the earliest Chinese renderings of Mahāyāna ritual and bodhisattva-precept materials.
