Shì mó hē yǎn lùn shū 釋摩訶衍論疏
Commentary on the Shi Moheyan Lun by 法敏 (Fǎmǐn, 集)
About the work
A two-juǎn prose commentary on the [[KR6o0084|Shì Móhēyǎn lùn 釋摩訶衍論]] by the Táng or Five-Dynasties monk 法敏 (Fǎmǐn). The colophon “沙門法敏集” identifies the author as shamen and the verb 集 (“to assemble / collect”), suggesting partial compilation from earlier exegetical sources. The work is preserved only in the Manji-zokuzōkyō 卍續藏經 (X45). The text consists of “next-section-by-next-section” 次第屬當 commentary on the parent treatise, formatted with substantial extracts from the source text followed by Fǎmǐn’s own analytical remarks.
Structural Division
CANWWW does not record an internal sub-division.
Abstract
The text opens “次第屬當釋本論文刪補三卷別行 / 疏上 / 釋摩訶衍論十卷 / 龍樹菩薩造 / 沙門法敏集”. The first verse organises the doctrinal material into “ten treatises” (十論), the last of which is the Dà chéng qǐxìn lùn itself — reflecting the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn’s self-presentation as the comprehensive Mahāyāna doctrinal scheme of which the Awakening of Faith is the doctrinal-foundational summary. The author Fǎmǐn is otherwise unattested in standard biographical sources; internal evidence places him loosely in the Tang or Five Dynasties period. The work survived only through Japanese manuscript transmission.

Other points of interest
The text is the second of the seven Chinese / Liao sub-commentaries on the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn preserved in the canon (KR6o0085–0090). Its identification of “ten treatises” within the parent text reflects the late Tang Esoteric numerological style.
