Shì mó hē yǎn lùn jì
Record of the Shi Moheyan Lun by 普觀 (Pǔguān, 述)
About the work
A six-juǎn prose commentary on the [[KR6o0084|Shì Móhēyǎn lùn 釋摩訶衍論]] by the Sòng monk 普觀 (Pǔguān), paired with his structural outline [[KR6o0088|Kē 科 (T773)]]. The colophon attributes the work using the verb 述 (“to relate / expound”). The work is preserved only in the Manji-zokuzōkyō 卍續藏經 (X46). It is the longest of the seven Chinese / Liao sub-commentaries on the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn in the canon (six juǎn), surpassed in size only by the [[KR6o0090|Liáo Tōngxuán chāo 通玄鈔]] by 志福 (four juǎn).
Structural Division
The opening “目次” lists six juǎn:
- juǎn 1: 釋題目巳下 (From the explanation of the title)
(From the Jiěshì fēn / Detailed Explanation section)
(From the second-rank dependent-meaning section)
(From the Bùjué běnshàng xiǎnguò gate)
- juǎn 5–6: subsequent sections
Abstract
The text proceeds juǎn-by-juǎn through the parent treatise, providing detailed prose commentary on each section. The author Pǔguān is also the compiler of KR6o0088 (the structural outline on the same parent text); together these two works constitute his complete commentarial project on the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn. Pǔguān is otherwise poorly attested in standard biographical sources; internal evidence and the Sòng dynastic attribution place him loosely in the Northern or Southern Sòng period (1100–1200). His extensive treatment of the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn — both topical outline and running commentary — represents the most thorough Sòng-Chinese exegetical engagement with the text.

Other points of interest
This is one of two paired Sòng works by the same author on the Shì Móhēyǎn lùn (the other being KR6o0088). Together they constitute the most extensive Sòng commentary on the parent treatise.
