Zhèngyuán lüèjí 正源略集
Abbreviated Collection of the Orthodox Source
compiled (輯) by 際源 Jìyuán and 了貞 Liǎozhēn; edited (編) by 達珍 Dázhēn, preface dated 1820 (Qīng Jiāqìng 25)
About the work
A 15-juan late-Qīng Chán lamp-record selection, compiled by three Qīng monks drawing on earlier lamp records and recorded-sayings literature to produce a more compact reference than the massive Wǔdēng quánshū (KR6q0021). Title — “Abbreviated Collection of the Orthodox Source” — announces its compendium character.
Abstract
One of the later-Qīng attempts to produce a condensed, practically-usable Chán lamp record selecting the most important figures and dialogues from the sprawling Wǔdēng quánshū (KR6q0021) and its Cáodòng-side competitor Xùdēng zhèngtǒng (KR6q0027). Relatively conservative in its lineage attributions; avoids the polemical edge of the seventeenth-century disputes.
Translations and research
No English translation. No dedicated monograph.
Other points of interest
A usefully compact late-Qīng Chán reference; its lineage framework is closer to the older Wǔdēng huìyuán (KR6q0011) than to the seventeenth-century sectarian revisions.
