Abstract
Recension III is sometimes titled Xuánzàng fǎshī lǐbài zhúyuè yǒu shízhāirì 玄奘法師禮拜逐月有十齋日 — a pseudo-attribution to the famous Táng pilgrim Xuánzàng 玄奘 (ca. 602–664). The attribution is anachronistic (the Shízhāirì system fits its own internal evidence to the late-Táng popular-Buddhist environment) but reflects the medieval Chinese practice of attaching famous translator-names to popular ritual texts to lend them authority.
