Abstract
Recension V belongs to a different system in Zhāng Zǒng’s classification. It contains expanded zàn 讚 (praise-verses) attached to each fast-day’s deity-invocation, integrating the zhāirì schedule with a more elaborate liturgical performance structure. This makes Recension V a transitional form between the bare zhāirì schedule of Recensions I–III and the fully-developed biànwén 變文 form found in the Bǎodǐngshān stone-engraving (cf. KR6v0051).
